Aster & Vale: Perfume App

Aster & Vale brings the boutique perfumery counter to the phone. It is a concept we designed: a short quiz finds the scent, the notes explain it and the bottle comes to the door.

Who it is for

Who the Aster & Vale app is for

A small perfumery with its own line, and its two kinds of customers: the regulars, and newcomers who want advice before buying a fragrance.

  • Regulars who know their scent and want the next bottle or a refill.
  • Newcomers who don’t know where to start: two questions give personal matches.
  • Anyone who would rather read the notes than a list of adjectives.
Why it is needed

The perfumery counter, on a phone

At the counter, someone asks what you like and explains each scent. The app had to give the same advice, warm, unhurried and personal, and then make buying quick.

  • Describe every fragrance by its top, heart and base notes.
  • Say longevity and sillage in plain words.
  • Match a scent in two questions.
  • Check out in two taps.
What we built

What the Aster & Vale app does

01

A shop by mood

Cozy, Bright, Bold and Soft filters. The autumn edit leads with Amber Hearth, its notes and two sizes on the card.

02

A page for every scent

Top, heart and base notes, longevity, sillage, sizes and reviews before the bottle goes in the cart.

03

A two-question quiz

What pulls you in and when you reach for it most. Matches come back with a percentage next to each.

04

A short cart

Quantities, delivery dates, the saved card and the total with tax on one screen, plus two gift samples.

05

Orders and refills

Tracking from placed to delivered, past orders with Reorder, and a reminder before a scent runs out.

How it works

How a shopper finds a scent

01

Open the shop

Pick a mood, or start from the edit and the bestsellers.

02

Take the quiz

Answer two questions and get matches with a percentage.

03

Read the notes

Check notes, longevity and reviews, then choose 30 or 50 ml.

04

Order

See the delivery dates and place the order with the saved card.

05

Track and refill

Follow the order to the door and reorder when the reminder comes.

How we built it

How we designed the Aster & Vale concept

The app is built to feel like the shop’s counter in Charleston: warm, unhurried and personal. We designed one purchase from first look to refill, and built the screens in HTML and CSS.

HTMLCSS
01

From counter to screens

Ask what the shopper likes, explain the scent, sell the bottle, bring it home. Each step became a screen.

02

Four tabs

Shop, Quiz, Cart and Orders: the whole journey of one purchase, nothing more.

03

Notes in three cards

Top, heart and base notes appear as three cards on the storefront and on the scent page.

04

One calm, dark layout

Dark screens, gold buttons and a serif for headings and prices. The scent pyramid and the quiz results share one layout.
