Cosmetics Match App: Find the Cheaper Twin
An app that takes a skincare product and finds its "twins" — cheaper products with a near-identical ingredient list — showing the match percentage, the saving and the formulas side by side.
About the project
Dupli is a consumer app for a market full of near-identical products at very different prices. The person opening it has a serum they like and a suspicion that a cheaper one exists with the same formula — and no way to check it beyond squinting at two ingredient lists in the shop.
We wanted the check to be honest and fast: the same ingredients in the same order weigh more than a marketing claim, the skin type matters for what "close enough" means, and the answer should be a percentage and a saving, not a paragraph.
What we built
Welcome asks three questions about skin type and concerns, so results can be ranked for this person and not for everyone. Home offers three ways in: type the product name, scan the label, or describe what it does. Results show the original on top and its twins below, each with a match percentage and the money saved.
"Side by side" is the proof: the two ingredient lists aligned, shared ingredients highlighted, the differences explained in one line each. The product screen carries the price across shops, and the bag collects what the user wants to try, with the total saving against the originals.
What the product does
Six mobile screens: welcome with the skin-type quiz, home with three search modes, results, side-by-side comparison, product, bag.
Results are ranked by ingredient match and personalised by skin type — a percentage and a saving, not a claim.
The comparison aligns the two formulas and explains every difference in one line.
Search by name, by scanning the label, or by describing the effect.
