Fenwick Bread Co.

Fenwick Bread Co. is a concept we designed for a small bakery that bakes overnight for wholesale clients. The web app turns standing orders into a night bake plan and follows the bread to the morning delivery.

Who it is for

Who the bakery production app is for

A small bakery that bakes at night and delivers to cafés, restaurants and a grocery in the morning. The owner and the head baker work in the app; the driver’s route and notes sit in it too.

  • The owner, who sets tonight’s plan and confirms the wholesale orders.
  • The head baker, who runs the night shift and checks every batch.
Why it is needed

One plan instead of a notebook and phone calls

The concept replaces a notebook and calls to the driver. The owner and the head baker see tonight’s plan, the state of every dough and the delivery route in one place.

  • How much of each bread to bake tonight, and for whom.
  • When each dough is mixed, shaped and baked.
  • Which order still needs a yes before the cutoff.
What we built

Five screens of the Fenwick bakery app

01

Night bake plan

Loaves per bread and the clients each is for, the baking window, who is on shift and an hourly mix and bake schedule.

02

Wholesale orders

Standing orders by client with items, delivery days and status. A pending order shows the contact and the cutoff.

03

Mix and proof

Every dough batch with its weight, mix start and time to shape, plus the head baker’s notes and checks.

04

Morning delivery

The route stop by stop: time, address, who received the bread, what came back and the driver’s notes.

05

Weekly totals

Baked, sold and wasted for each bread, revenue by client and the flour cost of the week.

How it works

How a night at the bakery runs in the app

01

Confirm the plan

In the evening the owner checks the orders, calls the one still pending and confirms the bake.

02

Mix and proof

Overnight the head baker logs each batch: mix start, notes on the dough, when it is ready to shape.

03

Bake

The schedule says which bread goes into which deck oven, and when.

04

Deliver

The driver runs the route; each stop records who took the bread and what came back.

05

Close the week

Weekly totals compare baked and sold for each bread and show revenue by client.

How we built it

How we designed the Fenwick Bread Co. concept

We built the concept around one night at an example bakery, from the evening orders to the last delivery, and gave each job its own screen. All five screens use the same example data, so the numbers agree from plan to route.

01

One night, start to finish

Plan, orders, dough, route and the week, in the order the work happens.

02

Two roles and a route

The owner and the head baker each get the screens they work in, with their name on what they set or checked; the driver’s route sits beside them.

03

A warm, quiet interface

Warm beige background, olive accents, Newsreader serif for headings and figures, Work Sans for the rest.

What it does

What the concept shows

  • Tonight’s bake comes straight from standing wholesale orders.
  • An order still waiting for a yes stands out, with the contact and the cutoff.
  • Every dough batch carries its times, notes and who checked it.
  • The week ends with baked, sold, wasted and revenue in one view.

Questions about this project

No. It is a concept: an example bakery with invented clients and numbers, designed to show how a production app for a small bakery could work.
